Review: Ninja at it again in ‘Ajj Vi Chaunni Aah’

Ninja, a name that needs no introduction in the Punjabi music industry, has come up with his latest single track, ‘Ajj Vi Chaunni Aah’. Having released ‘Challenge’ last month, this is his second single track of this year. The song was released in the morning on the official YouTube channel of Speed Records. At the time of writing this article, in terms of views, it has crossed the one million mark on the same platform.

Ajj Vi Chaunni Aah is a quintessential sad number. In Ajj Vi Chaunni Aah, Ninja has added another successful project under his belt. Having sung ‘Aadat’, ‘Oh Kyun Ni Jaan Sake’ and ‘Roi Na’ in the past, this is the fourth song of this genre under Ninja’s repertoire. Given the doleful nature of the song, he has sung it in the most heartfelt manner.

Ajj Vi Chaunni Aah marks the fourth occasion when Himanshi Khurana is featuring in Ninja’s song. The duo has earlier appeared in ‘Gal Jattan Wali’, ‘Thokda Reha’ and ‘Athra Subah’, all of which have been affluent in their own way. As has been the norm throughout her career, she has once again proved her mettle. Her earnest countenance in this song is worth going into raptures about.

Rangrez Sidhu has profoundly penned down the song. Goldboy, who has earlier worked with Ninja in numerous super-hit songs, has given the music in the song. He has done a commendable job this time round as well. There is this thing about his craft which makes his songs (despite being of the same genre) look at variance with each other every time. A facet of his line of work which is liked by the audiences the most.

In which is an Umesh Karmawala presentation, the video of the song is directed by Avex Dhillon, who had also directed the video of Challenge. Not that the video of Ajj Vi Chaunni Aah contains any major shortcoming, but the room for improvement is still widely open. There were instances when the lyrics of the song were not in sync with its video. Considering the severity of the lyrics of the song, a better concept of the video would have given a much better experience to the viewers.
