Ranjit Bawa’s Quadrilogy – Bhalwan Singh

A sought after name in the Punjabi music industry, Ranjit Bawa, is all set to feature in his fourth movie in a span of 10 months. Bawa, having gained a profusion of accolades with his singing, made his acting debut in Karan Guliani’s ‘Sarvann’ in January this year. After his successful stints in Ksshitij Chaudhary’s ‘Vekh Baraatan Challiyan’ and Baghal Singh’s ‘Toofan Singh’, Bawa is looking in a fit state to play the lead in the much anticipated ‘Bhalwan Singh’.

The trailer of the movie was released on this weekend on the official YouTube page of Rhythm Boyz Entertainment. Accompanying Bawa as the lead of the movie will be an acclaimed Canadian video blogger (or vlogger), Navpreet Banga. Karamjit Anmol, Manav Vij, Rana Jung Bahadur and Mahabir Bhullar.

The movie is produced by Amiek Virk, Karaj Gill and Jaspal Singh Sidhu under the banners of Nadar Films and J Studio in association with Rhythm Boyz Entertainment. Harsimran Waraich, , 7T-One Films, Tung Films and Next Level Productions are the co-producers. It will be Param Shiv’s directorial debut. The story has been penned down by Sukhraj Singh and the screenplay and dialogues by Karan Sandhu and Dheeraj Kumar. The movie is musically directed by Gurmoh. Bir Singh has written the songs of the movie which is edited by Manish More.

The movie is shot on the backdrop of the pre-independent India, an era when the Britishers were ruling the nation. After watching the trailer, one understands that it revolves around the life of a happy-go-lucky person called Bhalwan Singh (Bawa). The movie is also likely to cover the struggles of Bhalwan, who, being a laid-back person eventually falls on his way to gain prominence in his village.

The movie will hit the big screen on October 27. It is expected to receive competition from ‘Jia Aur Jia’ and ‘Rukh’ in the national market. Talking about Punjab, the movie is likely to do better as the audiences for such Hindi movies is minimal.

Forget the Punjabi industry, there will be very few instances, even in the Bollywood, of actors who featured in four movies in their first year of acting careers. In that context, Bawa has taken everyone aback. Will his movie do the same with the audiences? Only time will tell!
