Two days into its release and one thing is already clear that there is no stopping Mandeep Benipal‘s ‘Dakuaan Da Munda‘ at the box-office. It was anticipated that the movie would open to a prolific response at the box-office. Overpowering those expectations, the movie ended up creating a historic havoc at the box-office on Day 1.
Not just that, the movie continued its sumptuous spree at the box-office on its second day as well, becoming the highest-earning movie across India on this Friday and Saturday. The movie has left behind fresh releases like Kamal Haasan’s ‘Viswaroop II’, Marc Fosters’ ‘Christopher Robin’ and John Turtletaub’s ‘The Meg’ and last week’s releases like Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Mulk’ and Akarsh Khurana’s ‘Karwaan’.
On its first day, Dakuaan Da Munda accumulated INR 2 crore (Gross) in the East Punjab region. The second-best was The Meg, collecting INR 1.10 crore on its first day. The second day collection of the Punjabi movie was reported at INR 1.90 crore (Gross). Citing this huge number for the first two days, it would be naive to not expect the movie collecting an even higher figure today (Sunday).
It is also worth mentioning that Dakuaan Da Munda was released in 150 screens across the nation whereas the above mentioned English movies were released in five times the number of screens, i.e., around 750.
If the movie continues this money-spinning journey on Monday and the following days as well, it is all in likeliness to affect the shows and the respective collection of the three movies releasing on the Independence Day, i.e., August 15.
The movie was distributed worldwide by Omjee Group. Kudos to them for delivering yet another successful project. For a successful entity like Omjee Group, Dakuaan Da Munda has become another feather in its cap.
