The trailer of Vijay Kumar Arora’s ‘Harjeeta’ was released four weeks ago, its songs have been doing the rounds on our TV screens and gadgets, the promotional interviews have motivated us enough to witness this path-breaking movie. As audiences, we just have to convert this motivation into action on this Friday (18/05/2018) for Harjeeta is a movie which needs to be watched because of its topic and not to forget, because of the hard yards which Ammy Virk has put in in a bid to look similar to Harjeet Singh.
The movie is a biopic on mid-fielder of the Indian Hockey team, Harjeet Singh Tuli, alias Harjeeta. He captained the Indian team to victory in the 2016 Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup. Beating Belgium in the final at Lucknow, the team continued its unassailable spree in the tourney. Harjeeta will showcase his rags to riches story, starting right from his childhood, depicting the condition of his financially unstable family and him eventually winning the World Cup for India.
The trailer of the movie was released on the official YouTube channel of Lokdhun Punjabi. At the time of writing this article, it has received in vicinity of five million views on the same platform. It is evident from the trailer that the standard of the game has not been tampered with and the visuals of the sport being played in the movie look chiefly authentic and aren’t just there for the sake of it.
The movie will be Vijay Kumar Arora’s second directorial venture in the Punjabi cinema. Apart from Ammy Virk portraying the role of Harjeeta, the movie also stars Sawan Rupowali, Sameep Singh, Pankaj Tripathi, Raj Jhinjer, Gurpreet K Bhangu, Parkash Gadu, Sukhi Chahal and Jarnail Singh. Jagdeep Sidhu, who looks set to deliver another affluent project with Ammy Virk in it, has written the script of the movie.
The movie is being produced by Munish Sahni (Omjee Group), Nick Bahl, Bhushan K. Chopra and Bhagwant Virk. It is co-produced by Rupinder Brar and Sarabjit Brar. Talking about Omjee Group, it is a prominent name in the field of distributing movies in the nation, who always come up with groundbreaking techniques to make sure that films are distributed in an apt manner.
Their role in the Punjabi industry is all the more important because regional movies need a better distributor so that they are played across the nation. With Harjeeta, their alliance with Punjabi Cinema will increase to the next level as Omjee Group is one of the producers of the movie. Full credit to them and all producers for believing in a project which can take the Punjabi film industry to a level apart.
What is likely to work for Harjeeta apart from the sheer brilliance which we have seen so far in the trailer is the fact that it won’t be receiving much competition at the box-office on the upcoming Friday. Among the notable movies which are releasing on the day after tomorrow are Harish Vyas’ ‘Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain’, Akash Khurana’s ‘High Jack’, Harsh Chhaya’s ‘Khajoor Pe Atke’ and David Leitch’s ‘Deadpool 2′. Due to a varying target audience, none of them possesses a threat to Harjeeta at the box-office.
