Review: Pankaj Batra is back with his 4th film after the super successful GNDK.Pankaj as a director was in superb form in this film. He got almost everything right in this film except – THE STORYLINE. Jagdeep Singh Sidhu who is the write of the film let it down through it’s ‘nothing new to offer’ storyline. A similar storyline has been seen in various Punjabi films in the recent years. Dialogues were crispy and fresh but some funny dialogues cannot make up for a poor narrative.
Pankaj as a director has done a great job, but sometimes great isn’t enough to make a film hit. He’s got all his technical things right and does a good job.
Coming to the performances, Jassie Gil did a good job. He needed to – after his recent outings like Oh Yaara! AALG. Sagarika Ghatge makes a confident debut in Punjabi Cinema. It was great to watch her after about 8 years in a proper role on screen barring Fox and one or two more debacles which she was a part of. Her voice was dubbed (tell us something new) but it was needed to. She cannot speak Malvayi Punjabi and the character was of a Bathinda girl. Bin Dhillon was superb as usual. Doing a superb job is nothing new for him. He can even make a dead rubber laugh. Such is the class of than man. Guggu Gill was impressive.Karamjit Anmol and Bunny were also impressive. The young chap who played Pali’s brother was also quite good in a small role.
Music had nothing new to offer. Barring the one track featuring Kaur B and Jassi Gill, it was random punjabi music with no lon term life.
Overall, Dildariyaan is a one time watch and I somehow passed my time given the length was 116 minutes.
