To get the ball rolling in the Punjabi movie industry this year, ‘Punjab Singh’ is in readiness to hit the big screens on this Friday (19/01/2018). From the looks of the trailer, it is evident enough that Punjab Singh is a movie based on crimes, throwing light on how some innocent individuals are also forced to walk on this dreaded path.
Directed by Taj, the movie stars Gurjind Maan in the lead role. Apart from acting the movie, Maan has also written the story, screenplay, dialogues and lyrics of the movie. Sarthi K, Kuljinder Sidhu, Annie Sekhon, Anita Devgan, Yaad Grewal, Ashish Duggal, Nitu Pandher, Jai Shri, Arun Bali, Rupinder Rupi, Vikas Kohli, Mani Kular and Davvy Singh are playing pivotal roles in the movie.
In Kuljinder Sidhu, Yaad Grewal and Ashish Duggal, the cast comprises of influential names who have it in them to turn the fortune of the movie by themselves. The trio has been seen delivering life-and-death dialogues in the trailer, an ingredient of the movie which is likely to pull the crowd towards the cinema halls.
Having said that, the apogee of the trailer was Anita Devgan’s role as Jai Kaur. For someone who has done outright comedy roles predominantly, this role of a dreaded lady-politician must have sent a feeling of horripilation to her fans. Jai Kaur might turn the direction of her career graph to a different level altogether.
Produced by Maahi Aullakh and PBR Entertainments, the movie will be released under the banner of A Big Heights Motion Pictures and PBR Entertainments. It is co-produced by Blue Horse Entertainment, Rich Hand, Sunny – Gugu and Jaisal Entertainment. Gurcharan Singh, Daljit Singh, Sunny Vik, DJ Narender and Davvy Singh have worked on the music in the movie which is edited by Kamal Singh.
The trailer of the movie was released on the official YouTube channel of Yellow Music. At the time of writing this article, it has received in excess of a million views on the same platform.
In what will be a rare Punjab derby, the movie will face competition from Shivtar Shiv’s ‘Saggi Phull’. Kushal Srivastava’s ‘Vodka Diaries’, Samir Soni’s ‘My Birthday Song’ and Sanjay Patel’s ‘Union Leader’ will also give tough competition to Punjab Singh.
