Regardless of the state, region or the country, working in the entertainment industry is more than just a challenging task. And when it comes to the Punjabi industry, the pressure multiplies automatically due to the ever-increasing competition. Then be it singing or acting, consistency is given the top priority. In the modern contemporary world, making a name in one field is what many people crave for.
And then, there is Tarsem Jassar. Someone who has donned every role in his career, so far, with triumph. He made his debut in the Punjabi industry in 2012 as a lyricist to his close friend, Kulbir Jhinjer. As time passed, he explored his options with utmost precision and has not looked back ever since.
In less than a couple of years, Jassar released ‘Attwadi’, his first track as a singer. By then ‘Vehli Janta Records’, Jassar and Jhinjer’s production house, had already made a mark in the market. The number of tracks increased, and with it increased their popularity. Eventually, ‘Rabb Da Radio’ happened in March this year and it depicted another talented facet of Jassar.
The lyricist turned producer turned singer had now turned into an actor, that too in a successful project. The movie starred Mandy Takhar and Simi Chahal in lead roles. It also starred Anita Devgan and veteran Punjabi actress, Nirmal Rishi. It released under the banner of ‘White Hill Studio’ and ‘Vehli Janta Films’ and was directed by Tarnvir Singh Jagpal and Harry Bhatti. Renowned script writer of the Punjabi industry, Jass Grewal, had penned down the script.
Similar to Jassar’s previous projects, this one was also lauded by one and all. After the release of its trailer, Rabb Da Radio might have appeared to some as a movie which lacked the x-factor. Having said that, it was an exemplary of the fact that nothing in a movie can replace a strong plot and authentic work by its cast. Each and every character was seen doing justice to its role, which led to the overall opulence of the project.
Riding on the success of his debut movie, Jassar’s second movie of the year, ‘Sardar Mohammad’ is all set to hit the big screens tomorrow. Inspired by true events, the movie is being produced by Manpreet Johal and the Vehli Janta Team under the banner of Vehli Janta Films. Harry Bhatti has been once again trusted for the directing this project. Jassar, Karamjit Anmol, Sardar Sohi, Rana Jang Bahadur, Neeta Mohindra, Rahul Jungral, Manjit Singh, Harshjot Kaur and Neetu Pandher are playing pivotal roles in the movie. The movie is musically directed by R Guru.
Apart from acting in and as ‘Sardar Mohammad’, Jassar has also written its script, screenplay, dialogues and songs, which is, without a doubt, another reason for his fans to eagerly wait for the movie. It would not be wrong to say that ‘Jassaran da Kaka’ has become an epitome in the Punjabi industry when it comes to versatility and consistency.
Many times, he has laid emphasis on working according to the needs of the cinema, without thinking much about the financial aspect. This reminds us of a line from Jhinjer’s song written by Jassar, ‘Chadd appan kehra Jassra oye notan de layi gauna ae’. The team must have already realised that after the first movie, the expectations are likely to be on the higher side this time. We, at Punjabi Mania, would like to wish Tarsem Jassar and the whole team of ‘Sardar Mohammad’ lots of luck for the movie in the hope that Punjabi industry will witness another blockbuster this year.
