The day is eventually near to witness the biopic of one of the most talked about names in the Punjabi film industry in the last month or so, i.e., Mintu Gurusaria. Directed by Mandeep Benipal, the biopic named ‘Dakuaan Da Munda’ is all in readiness to hit the silver screens on the upcoming Friday, i.e., 10/08/2017.
The impelling trailer of the movie was released during the fag end of the month of June on the official YouTube channel of White Hill Music. At the time of writing this article, it has received in vicinity of three million views on the same platform.
Dev Kharoud, who had earlier successfully portrayed the character of Rupinder Gandhi on-screen, is all set to feature in another biopic. In an interview with Punjabi Mania, he revealed that he felt lucky to play Gurusaria’s character on-screen. Apart from him, the movie stars Pooja Verma, Jagjeet Sandhu, Lucky Dhaliwal, Sukhdeep Sukh, Anita Meet, Hardeep Gill and Kuljinder Sidhu.
Playing the love interest of Kharoud in the movie, actress Pooja Verma summed up in an apt manner saying that Dakuaan Da Munda is different from all other Punjabi movies. Her words are highly likely to be marked as the truth for the movie promises a contrasting subject altogether. It is evident from the trailer that the movie is likely to cover two major aspects of his life – how he entered into this quagmire of drugs and destruction and how he came out of it to become a well-known journalist in the state.
The latter is what most people would be looking forward to for it is expected to be having solutions of their personal problems. A movie made on such social lines in a state where it is the need of the hour and comprising of such names is expected to enjoy an extended run at the box-office.
The movie is based on Gurusaria’s autobiography named Dakuaan Da Munda. Jagjeet Sandhu, who has started to make a mark in the Punjabi film industry, let out in an interview to Punjabi Mania that he found the title of the movie very attractive. Apart from the original story, the screenplay of the movie is written by Inderpal Singh and the dialogues by Gurpreet Bhullar.
Apart from Kharoud and Gurusaria’s fan-following, what has created a lot of buzz amidst the audiences (especially the youth) is the music of the movie. If the songs of the movie served as a cake, Sidhu Moose Wala’s promotional track named ‘Dollar’ was the perfect icing on it. Veet Baljit and Gill Raunta have penned the songs of the movie which have been musically directed by Qaistrax and Laddi Gill. Nachattar Gill, Veet Baljit, Shipra Goyal, Angrej Ali. Himmat Sandhu and Bunty Numberdar have lent their voices to the songs of the movie.
Dakuaan Da Munda is produced by Ravneet Kaur Chahal and Rajesh Kumar Arora under the banner of Dreamreality Movies. Preponed by a month, the movie will not receive much competition at the box-office apart from Kamal Haasan’s ‘Viswaroop II’. That being said, a five-day week has it in it to affect the business of the movie. In a bid to recover that amount, Dakuaan Da Munda has no option than to start sumptuously on Friday.
Watch this movie in your nearest cinema halls on this Friday for a movie such as this is not made everyday. It is a must-watch for people who are finding solutions to their drugs-related issues. If Gurusaria can come out of this trap, so can the others. It is just a matter of motivation and determination. Also, don’t forget to write your views about the movie to us in our comments section.
