In which is another film set to be added to the category of content-oriented cinema, debutant director Vikram Grover’s ‘Son of Manjeet Singh’ will hit the silver screens on this Friday, i.e., October 12. The trailer of the movie was released exactly two weeks ago. At the time of writing this article, it has received over five million views on YouTube.
The movie stars Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, BN Sharma, Harby Sangha, Malkeet Rauni, Damanpreet Singh, Deep Mandeep, Japji Khaira and Tania in pivotal roles. The release of the movie was delayed due to some reasons. During its shoot in 2016, we had interviewed legendary actor Ghuggi, asking him about the details of the movie and what brings him to this genre. Watch the video below:
Son of Manjeet Singh is a quintessential father-son story where both the individuals are at odds regarding the career of the latter. This constant difference of opinion in association with the impecunious circumstances of their home are expected to lead to a significant rift between the two. The ramifications of this rift will only be known after watching the movie on in cinema halls on this Friday.
The movie’s USP lies in people relating themselves to it. Choosing a child’s concern is a household concern, something which sees quarrels being happening day in and day out. Additionally, the movie is also expected to question the prevailing education system in our country.
Son of Manjeet Singh is produced by Kapil Sharma and Sumeet Singh under the banners of K9 Films and Seven Colors Motion Pictures. Ghuggi will also be seen presenting this movie. The movie will receive competition at the box-office from Pradeep Sarkar’s ‘Helicopter Eela’, Abhishek Dogra’s ‘Fryday’ and Pushpdeep Bhardwaj’s ‘Jalebi’ and Rahi Anil Barve and Anand Gandhi’s ‘Tumbbad’.
Kapil Sharma’s presence in the promotional activities during the last week or so has given a massive boost to the movie ahead of its release. However, we have seen in the past that content-oriented movies dwell on their own without the need of extensive promotions. If the movie delivers what it promises, it is likely to stand tall on the commercial factor as well.
