Trailer Review: An impelling ‘Dakuaan Da Munda’

In the age of biopics, Mandeep Benipal’s ‘Dakuaan Da Munda’ is another intriguing prospect added to the category. Earlier slated to release on 07/09/2018, the movie will now be released on 10/08/2018. The movie marks the comeback of director Benipal in the Punjabi film industry after four years. ‘Yoddha’ (2014), his previous movie, was appreciated widely by the audiences.

The trailer of Dakuaan Da Munda has released almost an hour ago on the official YouTube channel of White Hill Music.

The movie is inspired from Mintu Gurusaria’s autobiography named Dakuaan Da Munda. It is based on the life of Mintu Gurusaria, a drug addict and outlaw who has become an inspirational icon for the youth of Punjab. The movie will cover Gurusaria’s exceptional and motivating journey of converting from a situation where most people tend to give up.

It is evident from the trailer that the movie is likely to cover two major aspects of his life – how he entered into this quagmire of drugs and destruction and how he came out of it to become a well-known journalist in the state. The latter is what most people would be looking forward to for it is expected to be having solutions of their personal problems.

Dev Kharoud, who has earlier successfully portrayed the character of Rupinder Gandhi on screen, is playing both the protagonist and antagonist in the movie. The first line of the trailer rightly says, ‘Har kahani ch ik nayak hunda te ik khalnayak, Par meri kahani thodi wakhri hai, Ehda nayak vi main aa te khalnayak vi’. His work in the trailer impressive but whether the adept actor will be able to pull-off another real-life character on the silver screen will only be known in the times to come.

Apart from Kharoud, the movie stars Pooja Verma, Jagjeet Sandhu, Lucky Dhaliwal, Sukhdeep Sukh, Anita Meet, Hardeep Gill and Kuljinder Sidhu. Kharoud, Jagjeet Sandhu and Lucky Dhaliwal’s chemistry was appreciated by the audiences in the Rupinder Gandhi series. To watch them again in a movie is likely to attract a plethora of audiences. Anita Meet, playing the role of Gurusaria’s mother in the movie, seems to add the emotional quotient in the movie.
