The concept of an animated movie is not a new one in the Punjabi movie industry. We all are aware about the magic created by ‘Chaar Sahibzaade’ in the Punjabi film industry. Reciting a religious or a historic story in an animated manner comes in handy because animation is liked by all sections of the society. Children, per se, can be taught about our history in the best possible manner through an animation.
Another story which is set to enthral the Punjabi audiences is ‘Bhai Taru Singh’. The trailer of the movie was released on the day before yesterday on the official YouTube channel of SikhVille. At the time of writing this article, it has received in excess of 37,000 views on the same platform.
As the name suggests, the movie is based on the life of Bhai Taru Singh (1721-1745). He was a sikh martyr who served the humanity and not just one religion. His knack of helping the poor and the needy irrespective of an individual’s cast and creed was what gained him immense respect during his time.
Born during the reign of the Mughal empire, Bhai Taru Singh was brought up a widowed mother. He and his sister had provided aid to the Sikh revolutionaries during the plan of overthrowing the Mughal Emperor of Punjab. He was the archetype Sikh warrior who neither feared death nor went against the tenets of his religion, despite brutal torture from the hands of the Mughals.
The low-budgeted animation of the movie is evident from its trailer. Given the techniques which are prevailing in the modern times, the quality of animation done in Bhai Taru Singh doesn’t have anything to boast about. The Punjabi industry has seen quality work being done in Chaar Sahibzaade. Whether they will accept these standards, only time will tell. Furthermore, the trailer doesn’t reveal much about the story of the movie, which can be a turn-off for many viewers.
Visit your cinema halls on April 27 to learn more about Bhai Taru Singh and witness how he revolted bravely against the Mughals. If you haven’t watched the trailer of the movie as yet, watch it below and tell us about your views in the comments section:
