Upon the release of its trailer, we talked about the prospects of Vikram Pradhan’s directorial venture, ‘Sat Shri Akaal England’, closing the year 2017 on a high note as far as the Punjabi industry is concerned. One can observe from the trailer that the movie is likely to be an undiluted ride of laughter, something which isn’t an out-of-the-box idea in the Punjabi industry.
Having said that, the genre has it in it to attract the audience towards the cinema halls for the simple fact that comedy is, perhaps, the Punjabi audience’s favourite genre, then be it in India or abroad. And why only the genre? The movie has megastar Ammy Virk playing the lead role opposite Monica Gill. The duo, in itself, should be able to bring their fans to the theatres on November 17.
Nevertheless, the current scenario looks
mismatched unfamiliar and dubious. With a mere 10 days remaining for the release of the movie, the word of mouth seems to be in absentia and the promotions off duty. In times where the cast of the any movie runs day in and day out to promote their movie across the state of Punjab and Haryana or even in Delhi NCR, there is absolutely no buzz about Sat Shri Akaal England.
One facet of film-making on which any Punjabi movie pins its faith on heavily is the music. And when you have an Ammy Virk playing the lead in the movie, the songs of the movie are bound to be worth listening to. Call it as much forced or unfortunate as you want it to, it is the trend and also the bare minimum of what the audience expects from someone of his his stature now.
With the trailer of the movie being almost two and a half weeks old, only a couple of songs have released as of now. It might sound discordant, but, is the reality that Dhan Paani Ho Jaanda and Jatt Da Kaleja seem lacklustre and in no ways have they helped in the growth of the overall image of the movie. The fact that even the presence of Jatinder Shah, Happy Raikoti and Karamjit Anmol in the songs of the movie hasn’t yielded a chartbuster song till now is nothing short of a bombshell.
However, all is not lost for Sat Shri Akaal England at this moment. Not that they can change the music or content of the movie now, but, can always promote it to an extent that it reaches a wider audience and a wider audience reaches it.
