Overview
If there is a movie which changed the course of the Punjabi film industry, it has to be "Jee Aayan Nu". This movie was released in 2002, a time when successful Punjabi movies was a myth. The movie was directed by Manmohan Singh. The film marked the acting debut of acclaimed Punjabi star, Harbhajan Mann. The story mainly revolved around how an NRI girl, Simar (Priya Gill), visits Punjab and falls in love with Inder (Harbhajan Mann). Apparently Simar's father (Kanwaljeet Singh) turns out to be a close friend of Inder's father. Inder and Simar's relationship flourishes, but, the problem arises when the girl asks the boy to shift to Canada alongside her. Inder is happy with his life in Punjab and has no wishes to travel abroad. He is depicted as someone who loves his motherland and, by no means, has any plan to shift anywhere. The rest of the story is in relation to how he visits Canada to convince the love of his life to settle in Punjab itself.
