Diljit Dosanjh may continue shooting for Border 2, but the controversy surrounding his association with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3 is far from over. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has announced a “non-cooperation” stance against the singer-actor, even after lifting the ban on his current project.
Speaking to India Today, Ashoke Pandit, a senior member of FWICE, confirmed that the decision to temporarily lift the ban was taken only after producer Bhushan Kumar intervened, urging the body to let the actor finish his nearly complete film. “Bhushan ji has promised not to cast him again and will issue a formal letter soon,” Pandit said.
While Dosanjh has been permitted to complete Border 2, which is said to be 80–85% done, the Federation has made it clear that it won't support his involvement in any future films. “Let this be a message — whoever collaborates with Diljit henceforth will do so at their own risk,” Pandit added.
Earlier reports had claimed that Dosanjh had been removed from Border 2 and might be replaced by Punjabi star Ammy Virk, but these rumors were swiftly debunked by Virk’s team.
Diljit finally broke his silence with a BTS video posted on July 2, showing him in costume from the sets of Border 2, effectively shutting down speculation about his removal. The video, featuring the patriotic track Sandese Aate Hain, sent fans into a frenzy and reaffirmed his role in the film.
Despite the temporary relief, the situation remains tense. The controversy stems from Dosanjh's recent promotion of Sardaar Ji 3, a Punjabi film that cast a Pakistani actress during a time of national grief and tension. As patriotic sentiment swells in the industry, Diljit’s future in Bollywood projects remains uncertain.
Border 2, the sequel to JP Dutta’s 1997 war epic, is expected to hit cinemas on January 23, 2026.
