Bollywood news: Emraan Hashmi recently addressed the topic of plastic surgery in the film industry, specifically responding to ongoing rumors about Rajkummar Rao. In an interview, Hashmi was asked why actors pursue cosmetic surgery and where these insecurities might originate. When prompted to name actors who have undergone such procedures, Hashmi responded with a knowing "yeah" when Rajkummar Rao's name was mentioned, then playfully covered his face.
Hashmi elaborated, "Cosmetic surgery is a reality. It's not just prevalent in the film industry; it's a well-marketed phenomenon everywhere. People are often driven by the desire to match the idealized beauty standards portrayed in media, which promises admiration and boosts self-esteem. As for myself, I haven't had any cosmetic procedures, in case you were wondering."
This discussion follows the recent controversy surrounding Rajkummar Rao. Several months ago, a viral photo from an event sparked speculation about possible plastic surgery. Rao swiftly denied these rumors in an interview, saying, "I haven’t had any plastic surgery. The photo that went viral was likely touched up—my skin looked unusually flawless, which I found surprising given it was taken after a full day of shooting."
Rao did, however, acknowledge having received filler treatments a few years prior. He said that when he started, there were many comments about his appearance. About 8-9 years ago, he opted for a minor chin enhancement with fillers, he said, adding that the procedure took about half an hour.
He further said that it helped boost his confidence and that he believed he look better but as a person and as an artist, it hasn't changed him at all.
