Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Tuesday took a sharp dig during her speech in the Lok Sabha, questioning why some Opposition MPs were asking why the war was stopped, urging them instead to “ask the people living on the borders” in Punjab and Kashmir.
Highlighting the struggles of border residents, Harsimrat pointed out that many families had to abandon their homes without any compensation. She also criticized the prolonged closure of the Attari border, which has hurt small traders and shopkeepers in Punjab.
“If the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra can resume, why can’t the Kartarpur Corridor reopen?” she asked. “If India and Pakistan can play a cricket match, why can’t a Diljit Dosanjh movie be released?”
Expressing gratitude to the armed forces, the SAD leader concluded, “Thank God the war was stopped. Our priority should be the people on the borders who face the brunt of such conflicts.”
