In a shocking and brutal incident, Dr. Aniljit Kamboj, father of renowned Punjabi actress Tania, was shot by unidentified assailants at his clinic in Kot Isei Khan, a town in Punjab's Moga district, on Sunday afternoon.
According to eyewitness accounts and police sources, two unknown men arrived on a motorcycle and entered Harbans Nursing Home, where Dr. Kamboj was attending patients. Under the pretense of seeking medical treatment, the duo allegedly engaged him in conversation before opening indiscriminate fire.
Dr. Kamboj sustained two bullet injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Moga, where he remains in critical condition, battling for his life.
Attack May Have Been Pre-Planned
Initial reports suggest that Dr. Kamboj had been receiving threats prior to the attack. However, no formal complaint had been registered, according to police officials familiar with the case.
Superintendent of Police (Moga) said, “The assailants came with a plan. They approached Dr. Kamboj posing as patients, then fired at close range. We're investigating all possible angles, including extortion threats.”
The local police have cordoned off the nursing home and are not allowing anyone inside as forensic teams continue to collect evidence. CCTV footage from nearby areas is also being reviewed to identify the attackers.
Hunt for the Shooters
A manhunt is underway to track down the assailants. Special police teams have been formed, and checkpoints have been set up across the district to intercept any suspicious movement.
The attack has sent shockwaves across the Punjabi film industry, with fans and fellow celebrities expressing concern and solidarity with Tania and her family.
Tania, known for her roles in hit Punjabi films like Qismat, Lekh, and Sufna, has not yet made a public statement regarding the incident.
