All set to be added to the limited list of animated Punjabi movies is the upcoming movie, ‘Bhai Taru Singh’, which will be released tomorrow, i.e., 27/04/2018. The trailer of the movie was released a month ago on the YouTube channel of SikhVille. At the time of writing this article, it has received in excess of 1.5 lakh views on the same platform.

The movie is based on the life of Bhai Taru Singh (1721-1745). He was a sikh martyr who served the humanity and not just one religion. His knack of helping the poor and the needy irrespective of an individual’s cast and creed was what gained him immense respect during his time.

Born during the reign of the Mughal empire, Bhai Taru Singh was brought up a widowed mother. He and his sister had provided aid to the Sikh revolutionaries during the plan of overthrowing the Mughal Emperor of Punjab. He was the archetype Sikh warrior who neither feared death nor went against the tenets of his religion, despite brutal torture from the hands of the Mughals.

Bhai Taru Singh will have to compete with a lot of movies on the box-office. The comparison might be unfair because of a varying target audience. That being said, the release of Sudhir Mishra’s ‘Daas Dev’, Jainendra Jigyasu’s ‘Hamari Paltan’ and top of it all, Anthony Russo and Joe Russo’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ might affect the business of Bhai Taru Singh.

Visit your cinema halls on April 27 to learn more about Bhai Taru Singh and witness how he revolted bravely against the Mughals. Don’t forget to tell us about your view regarding the movie.
