'Carry On Jatta 2' star cast bolstered by new names

Smeep Kang’s ‘Carry On Jatta’ will go down as one of the most stellar Punjabi movies of all time. If the filter of slapstick comedy in the Punjabi industry is applied, it might as well top that list. Such was the magnitude of the family entertainer which was released in 2012. Apart from gaining critical accolades, the movie also went on to become a grand money-spinning piece of merchandise.

The merchandise has now been converted into a brand, whose second edition is in the process of fabrication. The shoot of ‘Carry On Jatta 2’ went off the ground in Mohali last month. The makers have gone ahead with almost the same names of high standing in the Punjabi industry in Gippy Grewal, Binnu Dhillon, Jaswinder Bhalla, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, B.N. Sharma and others, names who were instrumental in bringing Carry On Jatta at a stage where it is today.

Having said that, the sequel will also feature two eminent personalities of the Punjabi industry in Upasana Singh and Sonam Bajwa. Singh is a time-honoured artist who has been a regular face on the tabloid for more than two and a half decades now. Apart from a profusion of Hindi movies that she has featured in, she has also played a vital role in the prominent Indian sketch comedy and celebrity talk show, ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’. Talking about the Punjabi film industry, she was widely praised for her role in ‘Jatt & Juliet’ and ‘Daddy Cool Munde Fool’ in the recent years. If reports are to be believed, she has been roped in the movie to perform an uncommon role.

One of the leading actresses of the contemporary Punjabi cinema, Bajwa, has also been signed for Carry On Jatta 2. Having made her debut in Manmord Sidhu’s ‘Best of Luck’ in 2013, Bajwa has been part of sundry blockbuster Punjabi movies in ‘Punjab 1984’, ‘Nikka Zaildar’, ‘Manje Bistre’ and others since then. With Carry On Jatta 2 in her bag now, it seems that her success spree is bound to continue in 2018 as well.

In terms of casting, it appears that the makers have ticked all the boxes right for the inclusion of the above mentioned names have certainly bolstered the movie in terms of star power. The promotion of the movie has already begun on various accounts of its cast across the social media, accelerating the curiosity among the audience in Punjab and overseas.
