In which will be the third Punjabi film to release this month, Shivamm Sharma’s ‘Dhol Ratti’ is all in readiness to hit the big screen on this Friday, i.e., 20/07/2018. The trailer of the movie was released on the official YouTube channel of Yellow Music almost a month ago. At the time of writing this article, it has received in vicinity of two million views on the same platform.
The movie stars Lakha Lakhwinder Singh and Pooja Thakur in lead roles. Apart from them, Arsh Chawla, Malkit Rauni, Harby Sangha, Gurpreet Bhangu, Rupinder Rupi, Anita Meet, Harinder Bhullar, Babbar Gill, Amritpal Chotu, Manju Mahal, Ikatar Singh and Khushi Verma will be seen playing pivotal roles in the movie. The script, screenplay and dialogues of the movie are penned down by Babbar Gill.
It is evident from the trailer that the movie will portray the times of 1970s when an emergency had struck the nation. It is during this time that the lead pair in Lakha Lakhwinder Singh (Dhol) and Pooja Thakur (Ratti) have to relocate to another village and is that is how the story unfolds.
The sub-heading of the movie is ‘Rishteyan di be-jodh gaatha’ which tells us that this family movie is likely to revolve around family values and its importance. Having said that, all of this doesn’t necessary mean that the movie will turn out to be a coup. If things do not go well, Dhol Ratti might well go down as a humdrum periodic movie. The quotidian trailer and uninteresting songs haven’t done the movie any good.
The movie is produced by Mike Verma under the banner of Canam Movie Production. The limited promotion of movie is also likely to hurt its chances. The movie will face tough competition from Shashank Khaitan’s ‘Dhadak’. Given its success in the first week, Smeep Kang’s ‘Vadhayiyaan Ji Vadhayiyaan‘ will also possess a challenge for Dhol Ratti at the box-office.
