'Guitar Sikhda' - An archetypal Jassie Gill song

The man needs no introduction. He has leapfrogged his way from being a subtle Punjabi singer to an actor in the Punjabi movies to eventually landing up in Bollywood. The shooting of his debut Hindi movie is underway. In the midst of this escalating hype, Jassie Gill has released his latest single track, ‘Guitar Sikhda’.

One crucial trait required in life to stay grounded during times of such extravagant publicity is self-possession. Composure and tranquillity are two words which, perhaps, define Jassie Gill and his singing skills the best. Guitar Sikhda, an archetypal Jassie Gill number, is another of those songs which comprises of oodles of calmness. The song was released yesterday on the official YouTube channel of Speed Records. At the time of writing this article, it has received in excess of 1.5 million views on the same platform. It has opened to efficacious feedback from the audience in both Punjab and overseas.

He had worked with Gill in his last project, ‘Dil Tutda’ (June 2017), as well. Understanding this song or the video is no onerous task which puts light on the fact that it isn’t necessarily a salient feature to complicate things in order to make them worthwhile.
