Slated to become the first Hockey-based movie in the Punjabi film industry, Rohit Jugraj’s ‘Khido Khundi’ is all in readiness to be unveiled on the big screens on this Friday, i.e., 20/04/2018. The trailer of the movie had released in the first week of March. At the time of writing this article, it has received in vicinity of 3.5 million views on YouTube.

The movie stars Ranjit Bawa, Mandy Takhar, Manav Vij, Guggu Gill and Elnaaz Norouzi. The movie will give a chance to the Punjabi audiences to witness Rohit Jugraj’s work after almost a couple of years. Apart from directing the movie, Jugraj has also written its script and screenplay which gives us another reason to buck up for the movie. Sartaj Singh Pannu has also contributed to the screenplay of the movie. Surmeet Maavi and Jatinder Lall have written the dialogues of Khido Khundi.

Under the name of Hockey, the movie is expected to cover several topics like the current condition of the sport in Punjab, the forgotten heroics of more than a dozen players from village Sansarpur, who went on represent three different countries in the Olympics and a fictional story which is likely to bind both the above elements together. All the three facets of the movie are interesting enough to visit the cinema halls on the day after tomorrow. That being said, the fictional element is likely to be of the most pronounced nature.

Khido Khundi is produced by Talwinder Hayre & Kavanjit Hayre under the banner of Hayre Entertainment and Cinemadic Motion Pictures. The movie is co-produced by Sagoon Wagh & Upinderjit Grewal. GoldBoy and Jaidev Kumar have given the music in the movie. The background score is given by Raju Singh.

During the promotion of the movie, the cast has laid enough prominence on Khido Khundi being an historic affair and how it has the scope of bringing a constructive change in the minds of our youth which might inspire them to follow the game with the same fervour that was present in our forebears. How much of this will hold true can only be evaluated after watching the movie.

Khido Khundi will receive strong competition from Majid Majidi’s ‘Beyond The Clouds’ and Faraz Haider’s ‘Nanu Ki Jaanu’. Having said that, given its star cast and the concept, Khido Khundi should outperform both the movies in East Punjab.

Visit your nearest cinema halls to witness history being recreated on this Friday. Don’t forget share your views about the movie in our comments section. Watch the trailer below:
