66th National Film Awards: Harjeeta receives National Award for Best Punjabi movie

Harjeeta receives National Award for Best Punjabi movie: The critically acclaimed Punjabi movie received a national award this afternoon.

Critically acclaimed Punjabi movie Harjeeta’ had won the Best Punjabi Film award in the 66th National Film Awards in August. With the award ceremony been held in Delhi today, producer Munish Sahni and director Vijay Kumar Arora received the award from Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.

Harjeeta was produced by Nick Bahl, Munish Sahni, Bhushan K Chopra and Bhagwant Virk under the banners of Sizzlen Productions, Malika Productions, Omjee Group and Villagers Film Studio.

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and written by Jagdeep Sidhu, Harjeeta starred Ammy Virk, Sawan Rupowali, Sameep Singh, Pankaj Tripathi, Raj Jhinjer, Gurpreet K Bhangu, Parkash Gadu, Sukhi Chahal and Jarnail Singh in titular roles.

Harjeeta receives National Award for Best Punjabi movie

Harjeeta, which had released in May 2018, was based on the real life story of Hockey player Harjeet Singh who rose from an economically weaker background to lead the Indian Hockey team to victory in the U-19 Hockey World Cup in 2016.

The movie was widely appreciated for its supreme quality and the enormous effort put behind making the movie. The movie winning the National Award for Best Punjabi movie speaks highly about hark work reaping fruits at some point in time.

Despite the movie not doing as well as it should have done commercially, it winning the National award has undoubtedly recognized the labour put in together by the whole team.
