The 67th National Film Awards were announced today evening that is on 22 March 2021 in New Delhi. The awards are for films from the year of 2019. The event is organised by the Directorate of Film Festivals, and was slated to be held last year. The awards had to be postponed due to the unprecedented health crisis in the world.
These awards celebrate the great work of filmmakers, directors, singers, and everyone involved in the entertainment and creative industry. The music sensation of the Punjabi industry- B Praak, and 2019’s block buster family drama film- Rabb Da Radio 2, bagged the National Awards for the year 2019.
B Praak won the National Award in the category of ‘Best Male Playback Singer‘. The music composer turned singer, has made the whole Punjabi industry proud by winning this prestigious award and by representing the Punjabi Music Industry at a National level.
He got the award for his vocals in the song ‘Teri Mitti’, which featured in Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Kesari’. It was an action-war movie, and ‘Teri Mitti’ was a patriotic number that touched innumerable hearts with its heart wrenching lyrics, beautiful music and B Praak’s soulful voice. This song was B Praak’s singing debut in Bollywood and the singer made his mark with his work. The singer recently posted this good news on his Instagram handle and thanked his team and his fans for supporting him.
The second National laurel has been won by the Punjabi film- Rabb Da Radio 2, in the category of Best Feature Film- Punjabi. The film was released in 2019 as a sequel of the 2017 blockbuster movie Rabb Da Radio. The movie was produced by Manpreet Johal and Ashu Munish Sahni under the banners of Vehli Janta Films and Omjee Star Studios.
The movie was directed by Sharan Art and had been written by Jass Grewal. The film starred Tarsem Jassar and Simi Chahal in the main lead. The film was a simple family drama reflecting on the complexities of various relationships in a family. The movie had received immense love at the time of its release and now has bagged the most prestigious film award.
