Amrinder Gill's new album to release post lockdown: The prominent Punjabi artist has put out a much-awaited development.
Prominent Punjabi singer-turned-actor Amrinder Gill has pledged to donate "to the best of his ability" towards a fund-raiser for the COVID-19 workers which has been organized by 5AAB TV. Speaking in an audio conversation with the portal, Gill thanked all the people who came forward to generate funds.
"I'd like to thank personally and from 5AAB TV's side to people who have supported this cause wholeheartedly. We Punjabis always join hands in such tough situations. I will make sure that me and my circle contributes to the best of our abilities to generate funds," Gill was quoted as saying by 5AAB TV.
Being asked about the troubles faced while making blockbuster movie titled 'Chal Mera Putt' last year, Gill opened up on how they returned from UK midway through the shoot due to the tension building in India around the casting of Pakistani actors in the movie.
"We had been planning this [Chal Mera Putt] for a long time. It was in February last year that we had reached UK [to shoot the movie]. With general elections approaching [May 2019] in India, the circumstances weren't very favourable. Despite spending 25-30% of our budget, we had to stop the shoot and return [back].
"We weren't even sure if we would be able to attain success or not. The thought of this film not seeing the daylight had even crossed our minds. But, we knew this thing that older generation would bless us for trying to unite Punjab. When Chal Mera Putt got released, we were unperturbed by the commercial and critical success of the movie and knew that this initiative would last long," Gill said.

Chal Mera Putt soon got converted into a franchise as 'Chal Mera Putt 2' released in March this year with Gill playing the lead role once again. That being said, the movie was among the few movies which got severely affected by the ongoing lockdown in India.
"Chal Mera Putt 2 received a fantastic response from audiences on the first two days but then the lockdown was announced. Our money is at stake at the moment and we have decided to re-release the movie [in cinemas] once normalcy resumes," Gill said.
In addition to Chal Mera Putt 2, Gill was slated to play the lead role in writer-director Amberdeep Singh's upcoming untitled movie. While the COVID-19 pandemic is highly likely to postpone that movie, Gill provided a massive surprise to his fans by announcing his new album on the same platform.
"Everything has a positive and negative side attached to it. During the lockdown, I have recorded some 25-30 songs at home. I want to tell everyone that my album is ready and will release after the lockdown [after shooting the songs]. The album will be the first thing to release," Gill added.
It is worth mentioning that Gill's last album titled 'Judaa 2' (2014) was appreciated by the audiences all over the world. Gill, whose last single track titled 'Supna' will complete half-a-decade this year, was due for a remarkable announcement such as this with respect to his singing career.
