Director Anurag Singh who last made Punjab 1984 in 2014 is all set to return with his new film ‘Super Singh’ which will hit the screens worldwide on June 16, 2017. The film stars Diljit Dosanjh, Sonam Bajwa, Rana Ranbir & many more actors in vital roles.

Diljit Dosanjh will be seen playing a superhero in the film. The film has been shot in parts of Punjab and Montreal in Canada. The film is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Brat Films. The budget of the film is said to be north of Rs. 15 Crores as per the grapevine going on in the film market making it the most expensive Punjabi film till date.

Earlier Diljit Dosanjh’s films used to release in the last week of June but this time Eid falls in that time period and Salman Khan starrer Tubelight is releasing just a week after Super Singh. On a personal level, I don’t think June 16 as an ideal date for this expensive Superhero saga because it will just have 7 days to do proper business till Salman’s film arrives in Cinemas and we all know Salman and Eid combo, add to it Kabir Khan’s direction.

However, to counter my argument last year Udta Punjab starring Diljit and produced by Balaji opened on the same weekend and made staggering numbers in East Punjab and Delhi region, the main markets for Punjabi films.
