After the repeated success of women oriented films in Bollywood, the Punjabi film industry is also lending it’s hand in ‘Women Empowerment’, by encouraging women oriented cinema and making films where female actors are seen in more strong and substantial roles.
Like all the film industries, Punjabi industry has also been making films with male prominence from a very long time but it is transforming with the changing age. The industry is now welcoming a transition, and is promoting more and more women centric films, where the leading ladies and all the other female supporting actors take the front foot, and are seen playing more significant characters, and steering the plot and the story of the film.
A very fine example of this was the Sonam Bajwa and Tania starrer Guddiyan Patole, which had released this year and received a very warm and overwhelming response from the audience. The movie was based on the characters of both the actresses, who played parallel leads in the film. One more such ‘women oriented’ film is all set to hit the screens and this one too stars the bold and beautiful actress- Sonam Bajwa. The movie is Ardab Mutiyaran and it will hit the silver screens on October 18, 2019.
Other than Sonam Bajwa, the film stars Ninja, Mehreen Pirzada and Ajay Sarkaria. Apart from the two lead couples, the movie also stars BN Sharma, Upasana Singh, Sudesh Lehri, Rajeev Mehra, Navneet Nishan, Inderpal Singh, Chesta Bhagat and Myra Singh. Both the leading ladies of the film will be seen playing very powerful and strong characters in the film, especially Sonam Bajwa- who will be seen playing a very unique and bold character called ‘Babbu Bains’.
Made under the banner of White Hill Studios in association with Towchain Motion Pictures, the film has been directed by Manav Shah and has been bankrolled by Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu. The trailer of the film gives an insight into the storyline of the comedy drama and clearly gives a glimpse of Sonam’s different and intriguing character. The trailer and the songs of the film are recieving a great response from the audience.
After this film, it can be clearly said that Sonam Bajwa is definitely making her strong mark in the business, and is taking the Punjabi cinema to greater heights as she is choosing show stopping roles and content oriented movies. Also she has a big role in bringing the culture of women centric films in the Punjabi industry, as before Guddiyan Patole and Ardab Mutiyaran, not many female oriented films have released in the industry.
