Shilpa Sajan, a background dancer, has publicly accused Diljit Dosanjh’s management of unprofessionalism and unfair treatment during the 'Dil-Luminati Europe Tour'. In an Instagram post, Sajan shared her frustration over alleged pay cuts, poor working conditions, and disrespect toward dancers.
In her detailed note, Sajan explained that she had initially accepted the opportunity, only to discover that dancers were offered just £80 and were expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs for most of the tour. She also pointed out that Dosanjh’s team had previously sparked outrage for not paying dancers in his US tour, but this time it was supposed to be a paid opportunity.
However, the conditions left much to be desired. “Everything was a mess, there was no respect or communication, and we were left stressed for days on end,” Sajan wrote. She went on to describe the mismanagement, including lack of rehearsals, dancers being cut without explanation, and overall chaotic organization.
Sajan emphasized the broader issue within the industry, saying, “I’m sick of dancers being used as mere objects without consideration for the fact that they are humans too, with lives and commitments and bills to pay.”
Concluding her post, Sajan said pulling out of the tour was a difficult but necessary decision for her self-respect, urging the dance industry to “do better.” The post has sparked conversations online, with many calling for fair treatment of dancers in the entertainment industry.
