Badshah’s Old Video on His Stage Name Resurfaces; Honey Singh’s ‘Meri Nalayak Aulad’ Remark Sets Internet Buzzing

Mumbai: An old clip involving rappers Badshah and Yo Yo Honey Singh has resurfaced online, bringing their long-running equation back into the spotlight.

The video began circulating after Badshah appeared on comedian Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent, where he spoke about how he got the stage name “Badshah”. The resurfaced footage, however, shows an older account in which Honey Singh appears to have been credited with suggesting the name. 

The apparent contradiction quickly caught the attention of social media users, with several sharing the two clips side by side.

Honey Singh joins the conversation

Honey Singh himself appeared to react to the resurfaced video. He shared the reel on his Instagram Story with the phrase “Gandi Aulad” and followed it up with the comment “Meri Nalayak Aulad”.

The playful-but-pointed response immediately became a talking point among fans, particularly because of the history between the two rappers.

Badshah and Honey Singh were once associated with the hip-hop collective Mafia Mundeer, before their professional relationship broke down. Their differences have continued to surface publicly over the years, often through comments, interviews and social-media exchanges. 

Badshah has given another version of the story

Interestingly, Badshah has previously offered a different explanation for his stage name.

During an appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati 13, he said that he had initially used “Cool Equal” as his stage name before eventually settling on “Badshah”. He linked the change to his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan and the actor’s 1999 film Badshah. 

That older explanation has now added another layer to the latest social-media chatter.

Old rivalry gets a fresh dose of attention

The latest exchange comes at a time when the Badshah-Honey Singh rivalry continues to attract considerable interest among Indian hip-hop fans. The two have previously traded remarks over their years-old association and creative credits, keeping their complicated history alive in public discussions. 

For now, neither rapper appears to have turned the latest episode into a serious confrontation. But Honey Singh’s “Meri Nalayak Aulad” comment has certainly given the internet another memorable chapter in the Badshah-Honey Singh saga.
