Balkaur Singh, father of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, took to social media today to express his growing frustration with the justice system, alleging delays, bias, and disregard for his family’s privacy.
In his statement, Singh said that while every citizen has the legal right to present their case, fairness often remains questionable. “Responses that come too late have no meaning,” he wrote, adding that in their case, nothing so far has worked in the family’s favour.
Reflecting on his son’s murder, Singh said it may be “the only case where the accused has been allowed to give interviews,” calling the situation deeply troubling. He alleged that when his family stood up for justice, they were sidelined, and when they asked for their rights, sensitive details of their appeals were made public.
Singh described the emotional strain on his family, noting that those who speak out about their pain are often painted as the ones at fault. “We have endured tremendous pressure and betrayal, far more than people realise,” he said, adding that his age makes the fight even more taxing.
Addressing recent discussions around his family’s finances, Singh stressed that their livelihood is built entirely on the hard work of his family and the legacy of his late son. “The value of my child’s words and achievements cannot be measured in numbers,” he asserted, saying his family looks to him to continue their fight.
Closing his message, Singh posed a painful question: “How much longer must we endure this? When will justice truly be served?”
Sidhu Moosewala, one of Punjab’s most popular singers, was shot dead in May 2022, triggering public outrage and a high-profile investigation that remains under intense scrutiny.
