Balkaur Singh Sidhu Calls for Unity and Resilience Amid Punjab’s Crisis

Amid Punjab’s ongoing struggle with devastating floods, Balkaur Singh Sidhu issued an emotional appeal, urging people to remain united and uphold the spirit of Charhdi Kala (eternal optimism). In a heartfelt message, he reflected on his lifelong commitment to the people and Mother India, stressing the need for collective strength in difficult times.

“I fought for you all. Tell me where I did not stand? I stood firm till the end, not by force, but by conviction. While others sought kingdoms, wealth, and fame, I continued to fight for you and for our land,” he said in his statement.

Sidhu acknowledged the seriousness of the current situation, comparing the chants of resilience to the flowing speed of Punjab’s rivers, which he described as the state’s most precious jewel. “We will always respect water, even when it tests us,” he noted.

He emphasized that nature’s fury is not a punishment but a test of endurance, calling Punjab a land of blessings and strength chosen to withstand such trials. “Just as we never parade our shortcomings before the world, we must now face this challenge with dignity and courage,” he added.

Expressing solidarity with families who lost loved ones, livestock, and livelihoods, Sidhu said prayers are being offered not only for the departed souls but also for the living, as the community prepares to rebuild together.

“In the end, when this battle is won, history will show who stood with Punjab, who retreated, and who sacrificed,” he remarked.

He concluded his address with a message of hope and resolve: “Those who stand against us can be ignored; those who support us must be uplifted. May nature show mercy to Punjab.”

His call for unity has resonated across the state at a time when thousands remain displaced and recovery efforts continue.
