Birender Singh Dhillon, aka Binnu Dhillon, is an eminent face in the Punjabi film industry. He was born on 29th August 1975, in Dhuri, Punjab. Binnu has an enormous experience of working in theatrical plays. He used to be a regular artist in plays before entering into movies.
One word which describes his acting the best is 'versatile'. Over the course of his career, Binnu has played roles ranging from hardcore comic roles to playing an antagonist to playing the lead role in several critically and commercially acclaimed movies. He has appeared in Bollywood movies like 'Shaheed-E-Azam' (2002) and 'Dev.D' (2009), where he played the role of Dev's (Abhay Deol) brother. The latter was written and directed by Anurag Kashyap.
Coming back to the Punjabi industry, Binnu Dhillon has acted in prominent Punjabi movies like 'Tera Mera Ki Rishta', 'Munde U.K. De', 'Mel Karade Rabba', 'Jihne Mera Dil Luteya', 'Dharti', 'Carry On Jatta', 'Singh vs Kaur', 'Lucky Di Unlucky Story', 'Goreyan Nu Daffa Karo', 'Angrej', 'Channo Kamli Yaar Di', 'Love Punjab', 'Dulla Bhatti' and 'Bambukat'. Seldom has any of his role been criticised or not liked by the public.
He is popular for his spontaneity and his dialogue delivery, especially in comic roles. Last year, he played the lead role in 'Channo Kamli Yaar Di' along side Neeru Bajwa and 'Dulla Bhatti'. It still remains a mystery as to how someone of his calibre was deprived of lead roles for so long. 'Vekh Baraatan Challiyan', which had released last month, was another landmark in his successful career. The father-son duo of Jaswinder Bhalla-Binnu Dhillon once again impressed one and all with their sublime timing. It was Binnu's first movie post 'Bambukat', i.e., a movie after an interval of a year. In a recent interview to Punjabi Mania, Binnu laid more emphasis on quality than quantity.
With Binnu more among the lead roles now, it is just a matter of time when he will receive awards for the same. With all due respect to everyone, but the amount of talent that he has, accolades for the same are bound to come. Not that he hasn't received awards in the past, but awards for the supporting actor does not do justice to his abilities, especially when his work in the movies is as good as others.
As far as the upcoming projects are concerned, Binnu is currently working on 'Bailaras'. It will also mark the debut of Binnu Dhillon as a producer under his production house, Naughty Men Productions. Binnu is playing the lead role opposite to Prachi Tehlan in this movie. Karamjit Anmol and Isha Rikhi will be seen playing vital roles in the movie.
