Yesterday (June 10, 2016), 2 Punjabi films opened simultaneously for the 3rd time in the year after March 11 & April 8. The films in this case were: Once Upon a Time in Amritsar & Dulla Bhatti. Both the films were actually not supposed to be clashing with each other in first place but the Certification problems for OUATIA forced the makers to clash their films against each other.
Both the films were released on limited screens and limited showtimes and both had below par collections on Day 1 with Dulla Bhatti edging past Once Upon A Time In Amritsar by a fewer margin.
The Collections of both the films on Day 1 were:
Dulla Bhatti – Rs. 12.75 Lacs
OUATIA – Rs. 10.69 Lacs
If any of these films are to make a mark, then they will have to show drastic improvements which are very rarely seen in Punjabi Cinema.
