Opening Report
Neeru Bajwa’s directorial debut Sargi has opened in cinemas worldwide today and the film has opened to a fair occupancy. The distribution has been very clever with Sargi. The film has been released at lesser number of shows compared to other Punjabi biggies so that the occupancy levels per show are more than the average. Sargi has not been able to create the required buzz.
Day 1 – Friday
The film collected Rs. 19,68,122 in East Punjab on Day 1. The film is receiving mixed response from the audience, some are liking it for the freshness and some feel that they’ve seen this storyline many times before on screen. Also Jassie Gill and Babbal Rai haven’t proved to be crowd pullers in any of their films. Last year Channo Kamli Yaar Di starring Neeru Bajwa (female lead) released at a similar time at the Box Office but it fared better than Sargi because Neeru is an established name at the Box Office.
Day 2 – Saturday
Sargi moved up a little bit on day 2 in East Punjab collecting Rs. 23,33,343. The film has shown an upward movement but no improvement at all since on Saturdays any film collections tend to go up. The 2-day total of the film stands at Rs. 43,01,465 in East Punjab region.
Day 3 – Sunday
Sargi showed some growth on Day 3 being Sunday. The film collected Rs. 31,44,324 on its 1st Sunday taking the total to Rs. 74,45,789 in East Punjab region.
Week 1
Sargi managed reasonable collections throughout the weekdays but still the collections were not strong enough to be worthy of the film being falling in the average or below average category. Sargi collected Rs. 57,54,211 total on the 4 weekdays (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) taking it’s Week 1 total of East Punjab region to Rs. 1,32,00,000.
