Given the amount of Punjabi movies scheduled for release this year, finding release dates is no mean task for filmmakers. Among movies which had been announced without a release date was one of the much-awaited Punjabi movies of this year in ‘Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh’.
Having said that, the makers have finally disclosed the date when it will be made public. Releasing on May 24, the movie will become one of the major movies to hit the silver screens during Punjabi audiences’ favourite season for watching movies, i.e., the summer holidays.
The primary reason behind mentioning it as one of the much-awaited movies of 2019 is its lead pair of Gippy Grewal and Sargun Mehta. While both of them are capable of guaranteeing success at the box-office on their own, imagine the prospects when they will team up for a romantic flick.

Last seen in Simerjit Singh’s ‘Mar Gaye Oye Loko’ last year,Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh will be Grewal’s second release of the year. It is worth mentioning that he has another untitled movie (as an actor) slated to release this year. Talking of Mehta, her recently released ‘Kala Shah Kala‘ is currently doing the rounds in the cinema halls.
Perhaps the biggest clash of 2019
There is no hiding to the fact that Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh getting a release date is in itself a major news. That said, what the development has brought forward is perhaps the biggest clash in the Punjabi film industry.
Since May 24 was already locked by White Hill Studios for the release of Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa starer ‘Muklawa‘, the development will bring some of the biggest names in the Punjabi industry contesting with each other in the last week of May. It will now be interesting to see if any one will leave this date. If not, it will be time for the Punjabi audiences to brace themselves for May 24.
