A district court in Chandigarh has issued notices to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, his sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and officials of Style and Content Jewellery Private Limited in connection with a civil dispute linked to a Being Human Jewellery franchise.

The court's direction comes after a complaint filed by Chandigarh-based businessman Arun Gupta, who has alleged that he suffered substantial financial losses after investing in a Being Human Jewellery showroom under a licensing arrangement. The respondents have been asked to submit their replies to the allegations before the court.

According to the complaint, Gupta invested nearly ?3 crore under an agreement with Style and Content Jewellery Private Limited, the company associated with the Being Human Jewellery brand. He further claimed to have spent around ?1 crore on setting up the retail outlet.

The businessman alleged that despite meeting his contractual commitments, the company failed to provide the promised business support and maintain a regular supply of jewellery inventory. He claimed the disruption in supplies eventually forced the showroom to cease operations after the supply network shut down in February 2020, resulting in significant financial losses.

Style and Content Jewellery Private Limited has previously rejected the allegations. The company maintained that Salman Khan was not directly involved in the commercial agreement signed in 2018, stating that the jewellery business functioned independently under a brand licensing arrangement with the Being Human Foundation that had been established in 2015.

The court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the allegations at this stage. The notices have been issued to enable all parties to present their respective responses before further proceedings.

The matter is now scheduled to be heard on October 5, when the court is expected to take up the replies filed by the respondents and decide the next course of action.
