AP Dhillon Chandigarh Concert: In light of public grievances regarding recent concerts by Punjabi singers Karan Aujla and Diljit Dosanjh, the Chandigarh administration is urging organisers to relocate AP Dhillon’s upcoming show from Sector 34 to Sector 25.
Complaints have poured in about severe traffic disruptions, noise pollution, and loss of business during the events held earlier this month.
While organisers already have approvals for the Sector 34 venue, Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav noted that the administration is pushing for a change. “We’re recommending the Sector 25 ground, which is more spacious. If organisers insist on Sector 34, we’ll ensure no future events are held there,” he said.
Impact on Businesses Sparks Backlash
Traders in Sector 34 reported significant losses during Diljit Dosanjh’s December 14 concert. The premature closure of roads disrupted furniture deliveries and forced shops to shut early, said Harjit Singh of the Sector 34 furniture market.
Other business owners echoed these concerns, urging the administration to move such events to less congested areas. “The chaos was avoidable, and businesses suffered unnecessary losses,” said Harinder Singh, owner of Sham Mall.
The proposed venue change for AP Dhillon’s concert underscores the administration’s efforts to balance cultural events with the city’s economic and logistical well-being.
