A live performance by Punjabi singer-actor Parmish Verma in the national capital took an unexpected turn after a confrontation with a member of the audience briefly disrupted the event. The incident occurred on the evening of February 13 during a public programme held at Chhatrasal Stadium.
Verma was performing at the inauguration ceremony of the ‘Delhi Khel Mahakumbh’, which began around 5 pm. Though entry to the event was free, attendees were required to register in advance. A large crowd gathered at the venue, and excitement peaked when the singer began his set.
According to videos circulating online, several fans moved past the barricades and approached the stage while Verma was mid-performance. Security personnel attempted to push the crowd back as some attendees reportedly sought selfies with the performer. Amid the commotion, Verma halted the music and addressed the gathering, asking them to maintain distance.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that tensions escalated after an alleged objectionable remark was directed at the singer. In footage now widely shared on social media, Verma can be seen gesturing from the stage and engaging in a heated exchange with a section of the crowd. The argument continued for over a minute before authorities stepped in.
Personnel from Delhi Police, along with the singer’s private security team, intervened to defuse the situation and restore order. The programme resumed shortly thereafter, though the episode has since sparked debate online.
Neither Verma nor event organisers have issued an official statement regarding the incident so far.
