Simran Kaur Mundi, the former Miss India title holder visited Chandigarh today for the launch of her 2nd Punjabi film, Mundeyan Ton Bachke Rahin’s Trailer and Poster exclusively for the media here at Elante Mall. Speaking about her character in the film, Simran Kaur Mundi said, “This is definitely something new for a Punjabi film where the female character has as much to do as her male counterparts. In fact both the boys are chasing me trying to impress me throughout the film. In most Punjabi films the female is just used as a prop, except of course for Neeru Bajwa who has done author-backed roles in films like Jihne Mera Dil Lutiya and the Jatt & Juliet series and is still doing many more of them. So when Pawan (the Producer) and Tony (the Director) offered this role to me, I immediately jumped at it, because it has something for me to chew on and show my versatility as an actress.”
Also she added that her character is of a strong Punjabi Kudi who knows how to take a stand for herself and give it back equally to the boys when the time arises. Simran said, “This is a character to which I feel 80% of the punjabi girls would be able to relate it with themselves.”
When asked about her career in Bollywood she spoke about her Upcoming Hindi film, Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi where she is paired opposite Siddharth Bhardwaj of Splitsvilla and Bigg Boss fame and that film is produced by Ekta Kapoor and Bejoy Nambiar. She said that May is going to be an exciting month for her since both her films are are co-incidentally releasing on the same day i.e. May 30th.
Also revealing about her future plans, she added that she is an enthusiast when it comes to doing different kinds of films and this shows in her choice of roles where she has done films in many different languages. She said that she would like to taste a piece of working in every kind of cinema but for now, she wants to do a Bengali as well as a French film, if given a chance.
