Legendary actor Dharmendra, one of Indian cinema’s most enduring stars, has been discharged from Breach Candy Hospital and is now recovering at home under medical supervision, his family confirmed on Wednesday.

The 89-year-old screen veteran had been admitted a few days ago for a round of health tests. While neither the hospital nor his family disclosed details of his condition, doctors assured that he is stable and responding well to treatment.

“Dharmendra ji was released from the hospital early this morning around 7:30 a.m. He will continue his treatment and rest at home,” said Dr. Pratit Samdani, who attended to the actor. “The family prefers home-based care for now.”

In a brief statement, Sunny Deol’s public relations team conveyed the family’s gratitude while urging for privacy. “Mr. Dharmendra has returned home and will continue his recovery there. We appreciate everyone’s kindness and prayers but request that speculation about his health be avoided. Please respect his and our family’s privacy.”

An ambulance was spotted transporting the actor to the Deol family residence in Juhu, where arrangements for continued care have been made.

The clarification followed a flurry of false online reports on Tuesday claiming that the veteran had passed away, prompting an immediate response from the family. Dharmendra’s daughter Esha Deol posted on Instagram, “Papa is fine and recovering. Please stop spreading unverified news. We’re grateful for everyone’s concern and prayers.”

His wife, actress and MP Hema Malini, also condemned the circulation of false news on social media. “It’s deeply irresponsible to spread such rumours when someone is recovering. This kind of misinformation causes unnecessary panic and distress,” she wrote on X.

Over the last two days, several stars from the film industry, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan, visited the actor at the hospital to check on his wellbeing.

A beloved figure across generations, Dharmendra—known fondly as the “He-Man of Bollywood”—has reassured fans through his family that he is resting comfortably and looking forward to getting back to normal life soon.
