Mumbai: The Deol family is set to organise a prayer meeting for Bollywood legend Dharmendra later this week, a few days after his passing, although the venue in Mumbai has not been finalised, sources close to the family said.
Dharmendra, affectionately known as the “He-Man of Bollywood,” passed away at the age of 89 on November 24, 2025, at his Mumbai residence following a prolonged illness, just days short of his 90th birthday. The family conducted his last rites in a private ceremony at the Pawan Hans Seva crematorium in Juhu on Monday, keeping the farewell intimate compared to other high-profile film funerals.
Since his demise, numerous Bollywood personalities have visited the Deol residence to pay their respects. Among the first to arrive were Hema Malini, Prakash Kaur, and sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, with several other film industry figures following in the days after.
Earlier this month, Dharmendra had been hospitalised at Breach Candy Hospital after experiencing breathing difficulties. He spent about 12 days on medical support before being discharged and continuing treatment at home, where he eventually passed away.
He leaves behind his first wife Prakash Kaur, their children Sunny, Bobby, Ajita, and Vijayta, as well as his second wife Hema Malini and their daughters Esha and Ahana.
A towering figure in Indian cinema, Dharmendra’s six-decade-long career encompassed over 300 films. His memorable performances in movies like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Satyakam, Anupama, and Seeta Aur Geeta earned him enduring acclaim. Renowned for his versatility, he collaborated with filmmakers spanning generations, including Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Ramesh Sippy, Manmohan Desai, J.P. Dutta, and Karan Johar.
The forthcoming prayer meet is expected to bring together family, friends, and admirers of the actor, providing an opportunity to honour his life and legacy in Mumbai.
