Amid threat of war between India and Pakistan, a social media post is going viral on the Internet claiming that the Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has called on the Indian government to distinguish between the actions of militants and the general Pakistani populace in light of the recent ban on the Pakistani entertainment industry.
It may be noted that following the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in 26 deaths, mostly tourists, India imposed sweeping restrictions on Pakistani artists, media houses, and entertainment content.
Hania’s alleged statement came amid reports that she has been dropped from the cast of Diljit Dosanjh-starrer Sardaar Ji 3, possibly due to the current diplomatic and cultural fallout. This development has further intensified the debate over the collective punishment of artists for geopolitical tensions.
In the alleged social media message, Hania said: "Just because of General Asim Munir's actions in Kashmir, the entire Pakistani entertainment industry has been banned in India, and even social media accounts are being restricted. I respectfully request the Prime Minister of India: we, the common people of Pakistan, have done nothing wrong to India. It is the Pakistani army and Islamist terrorists who are behind the Pahalgam terrorist attack. So why are you punishing ordinary Pakistanis?"
However, the authentication of her Instagram story remains to be ascertained as majority of people are calling it fake and baseless and they claim that no such story was posted by Hania Aamir.
