Punjab’s cultural story—from the spiritual legacy of the Golden Temple and Sikh history to the energetic beats of Bhangra and the worldwide popularity of Diljit Dosanjh—is finding a place in the PM Mementos e-Auction 2026.

Among the collection of mementos available in the auction are artworks and memorabilia that reflect different dimensions of Punjabi identity. Particularly notable is a photoprint associated with Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati Tour, bringing the contemporary global face of Punjabi music into a collection otherwise strongly rooted in the region’s history, faith and traditions.

Diljit’s inclusion reflects the growing international footprint of Punjabi music and culture. Over the years, his performances and music have taken Punjabi-language entertainment to audiences far beyond India, with the Dil-Luminati Tour becoming a prominent part of his international musical journey. The memento offers a contemporary counterpoint to the collection’s representations of Punjab’s traditional heritage.

The collection also celebrates Bhangra, one of Punjab’s most recognisable cultural forms. A colourful painting depicting the folk dance captures its lively movements and festive character, highlighting a tradition that has become synonymous with Punjabi celebrations both in India and among the global Punjabi diaspora.

At the heart of the collection are representations of Sri Harmandir Sahib, or the Golden Temple, in Amritsar. One miniature presents the iconic shrine in detailed form, while another places the temple inside a glass dome, creating a distinctive floating visual effect. Both pieces evoke the architectural beauty and spiritual significance of one of Sikhism’s most revered sites.

Sikh history and spirituality are further represented through a silver-framed portrait of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, presented by the Gurudwara Managing Committee, Gurubagh, Varanasi.

Another artwork depicts Mata Gujri Ji with the Sahibzadas, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, recalling a deeply significant chapter of Sikh history and the enduring themes of faith, courage and sacrifice associated with their story.

The Punjab-related collection extends beyond Sikh heritage. A framed portrait of Sant Shri Sevalal Maharaj, shown in a blessing posture, represents another spiritual and social tradition. Saffron Gurdwara headscarves featuring golden threadwork are also part of the collection, reflecting the customs and reverence associated with visits to Sikh places of worship.

Taken together, the mementos present Punjab through several generations of its cultural identity—its sacred landmarks and spiritual figures, its folk traditions and, increasingly, its contemporary global music culture.

The PM Mementos e-Auction provides the public an opportunity to bid for these items, with proceeds from the auction going towards the Namami Gange Mission. Interested bidders can participate through pmmementos.gov.in.
