Diljit Dosanjh Breaks Silence on Jantar Mantar Protest Violence, Urges Peaceful Dialogue

Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has publicly reacted to the recent violence reported during the student protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, expressing concern over the treatment of demonstrators and calling for a peaceful resolution to the situation.

In a heartfelt message shared through his Instagram Stories, Diljit described the incident as "very bad" and said that students should never be subjected to such treatment. He appealed to the authorities to engage with the protesters through dialogue and carefully consider their concerns rather than allowing tensions to escalate.

Emphasising the importance of listening to public voices, the artist wrote that "the voice of the people is the voice of God." He urged those in positions of responsibility to prioritise communication over confrontation and address the students' demands through peaceful discussions.

Diljit also explained why he had not commented earlier on the issue. He said that he has repeatedly been labelled "anti-national" for expressing his views in the past and feared that speaking again could invite similar criticism.

Reflecting on his experience during the 2020 Farmers' Protest, the singer revealed that his support for the movement led to significant backlash and legal challenges. He added that the period was so difficult that he still feels unable to speak openly about everything he went through.

Concluding his message with hope and faith, Diljit wrote, "Baki Rab Sab Dekh Reha, Baba Bhali Karu," expressing his belief that justice will prevail.
