Bollywood singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has responded to recent backlash from the banned organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) following his appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), where he was criticized for touching host Amitabh Bachchan’s feet.
Taking to Instagram, Diljit clarified his intentions, stating that his visit to the show was not for promoting any film or music project. He wrote, “Na mai kisey film di promotion lai geya si, na kisey ganey di… Punjab floods lai geya si… ke national level te gal hove, te loki donate kar sakan”, emphasizing that his aim was to bring national attention to the recent floods in Punjab and encourage donations for relief efforts.
The SFJ had earlier alleged that Diljit’s actions disrespected the victims of the 1984 Sikh riots, leading to widespread online debate. However, Diljit maintained that his focus remained on humanitarian causes and fostering unity rather than engaging in controversy.
Supporters praised the actor-singer for prioritizing social responsibility over personal publicity, noting that his efforts helped raise awareness about flood relief at a national level.
Through his statement, Diljit reiterated his dedication to supporting communities in need, underlining that his actions were driven by compassion and solidarity, not politics or publicity stunts.
