In the latest developments of the Raj Kundra-Shilpa Shetty fraud case, Bollywood stars Ekta Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, and Neha Dhupia are reportedly set to be questioned by the Mumbai Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW). The inquiry centers around the now-defunct Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, a celebrity-driven teleshopping venture founded by Shetty and her businessman husband Kundra.
The case stems from allegations made by Deepak Kothari, a businessman who claims to have been swindled of over Rs 60 crore in a loan-investment agreement linked to Best Deal TV. Kothari’s complaint has led to an investigation into the financial dealings of Shetty and Kundra.
According to sources, the EOW will ask the actors about the payments they received for promoting the channel. They will be required to disclose the details of the payments, including the form and any possible irregularities. "We are examining the financial transactions related to the channel and will ask the celebrities about their involvement," a source confirmed.
The EOW is also reviewing the aired content on Best Deal TV, particularly the shows featuring the three celebrities. While Raj Kundra has claimed that critical evidence, including CDs and hard drives, had already been seized by the Crime Branch’s Property Cell in a separate investigation, the probe into the financial discrepancies continues.
As the investigation unfolds, all eyes will be on whether the involvement of these prominent figures in the case will lead to further revelations.
