Punjabi Films in 2013 have seen a record number of releases with the count going up to 41. Some films had huge expectations from them and failed at the Box Office miserable whereas some, which had minimal expectations, garnered the interest of the audience and became the surprises of 2013.
It’s one of my personal favorite films of 2013. Earlier when Sadda Haq was supposed to be released on April 5, not many people expected the film to do well in the Indian markets at least. Nevertheless the film was banned in India and created history overseas and turned out to be one of the biggest Punjabi hits overseas breaking many previous records especially in UK where it broke the long standing record of Dil Apna Punjabi to become the highest Punjabi Grosser. The film was cleared for an Indian release on May 10 and did well in India too.
Not many gave this film a chance at the Box Office but when it released on August 23, the audiences loved it. In a time when everybody was making a comedy, Jatt Boys brought with it a change and turned the minds towards an Action film. The film was an average affair at the box office but before its release not many even expected the film to be average even.
It was a classic love story which not many people gave a chance until they saw the film. Al though the film did not do that well in theaters but who ever saw the film, just loved it completely. And the proof of that love is the DVD reports of Haani, which are selling like hot cakes in the market. And the people are even paying on YouTube to watch this film since it’s not available for free by Unisys films.
Some other could have been’s included in this list are Young Malang and R.S.V.P. – Ronde Saare Vyah Picho.
