Dehradun: A criminal case has been lodged against Haryanvi folk artist Masoom Sharma following allegations of using inappropriate language during a cultural programme in Dehradun. The complaint relates to an event held on April 10 at DAV (PG) College, where the singer performed before a large student audience.

Authorities confirmed that multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) have been invoked, including provisions related to obscene acts, intentional insult aimed at provoking unrest, and gestures or words deemed offensive towards women. Charges of criminal intimidation have also been included in the case.

Police officials stated that the matter is under investigation and further action will be taken based on the findings. They added that all legal procedures will be followed in accordance with the law.

The incident has sparked discussion among students and locals, with some expressing concern over maintaining decorum at public events, while others have called for a fair inquiry before drawing conclusions.
