Navtej Sandhu is a popular name in the Punjabi film industry and is known for his ingenious direction of short films. The director who won critical acclaim and appreciation for his work in the Punjabi short film Nooran has already featured his three short movies at the Cannes Film Festival and has got global acclaim for his work in Bakaya and Gawachi Pagg too.
We had recently shared the news of announcement of his next film. The critically acclaimed director is all set to direct his first ever feature film titled ‘Jamraud- The Fort‘. This film is based on the story Jamraud that has been written by renowned writer Waryam Singh Sandhu. Navtej Sandhu shared his excitement on social media by sharing a picture with the writer of the film.
The movie is being made under the banner of Ajab Productions and is being produced by Bobby Sachdeva. Since its an adaption from literature, the movie will attract a wider range of audience and would be a treat for cinema lovers as well as the audience that enjoys beautiful literature. Navtej Sandhu is very happy to direct a story written by such a great writer and is elated to be a part of this project.
The fist look poster of the film is out and has already created a buzz. The movie will release on 11 October 2019. The movie stars young and popular producer and actor Kuljinder Sidhu in the main lead. He has played main lead roles in movies like Sadda Haq and Yodhha and has also played character roles in Shareek and Dakuaan Da Munda. Other than this film, the actor will also play lead in two more films. The actor will also be seen in the film Mitti- Virasat Babbaraan Di which will be Hema Malini’s first Punjabi film as a producer.
Jamraud will be a Punjabi film based on Punjabi culture, life and backdrop. The tagline of the film, Jazbaat Da Qilla Fateh karna Saukha Nahi suggests that the movie will be a bag of various emotions. The movie will also star renowned actors like Sardar Sohi, Ashish Duggal and Harwinder Bubbly in pivotal roles. The shooting of the film has started in Amritsar and the movie will be shot in Punjab and Canada.
