Punjabi movies releasing in May 2022: A total of six Punjabi movies will be releasing in cinema halls this month.
There is no hiding to the fact that the peak summer season has a predilection for Punjabi movies. Months of May, June and July have witnessed releases of some of the most successful Punjabi movies in the last decade or so.
Unfortunately, the last two years were bereft of the release of any Punjabi feature film due to an unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, fans will have as many as six Punjabi movies to choose from for their entertainment in May 2022.

Maa
Originally scheduled to release on Mother's Day 2020, the movie suffered a couple of year-long delays to now finally release on Mother's Day weekend 2022, i.e., May 6. Had it not been for coronavirus, Baljit Singh Deo's 'Maa' would've been the first movie of May 2020. Interestingly, it will now be the first movie of May 2022.
Comprising of top-notch names such as Gippy Grewal, Divya Dutta, Gurpreet Ghuggi and others, Maa falls into an arhcetype 'family movie' category for the Punjabi audiences.
Saunkan Saunkne
Scheduled to release on May 13 after facing its share of delays, Amarjit Singh Saron's 'Saunkan Saunkne' will portray a rare but hysterical story of two sisters being married to one man. Set to become Saron's fourth Punjabi movie as a director, it will be interesting to see if Saunkan Saunkne gets the approval of audiences just like his first three movies or not.
Apart from starring a blockbuster pair in Ammy Virk and Sargun Mehta, Saunkan Saunkne will also have adequate space for singer-turned-actor Nimrat Khaira to prove her mettle.
Kokka
Scheduled to release on May 20 after being announced for the first time three years ago, not much information is available for this Neeru Bajwa and Gurnam Bhullar-starer movie. Having said that, with its trailer arriving today, we will update you with more details.
Chann Pardesi
Unlike any other usual clash at the box-office, Kokka will not release on the same day with a contemporary Punjabi movie. Instead, the movie will be locking horns with 1981-blockbuster titled 'Chann Pardesi'. The refurbished movie will be released in HD Digital and 5.1 Surround Sound only in cinema halls on May 20.
Dakuaan Da Munda 2
Among the rare actors who haven't had a release since the pandemic, Dev Kharoud will have one after more than two years on May 27. Frankly speaking, Kharoud challenging his previous career-best in 'Dakuaan Da Munda' (2018) with 'Dakuaan Da Munda 2' has it in it for his bountiflul fans to not keep calm in anticipation of this outright commercial entertainer.
PR
Veteran singer-actor Harbhajan Mann will compete with Kharoud not just because of their movies releasing on the same day but also with respect to returning to the silver screens. If Kharoud hasn't had a release since 2020, Mann hasn't had a release since 2016!
Much like Kokka, the trailer of 'PR' is yet to release and we will update you with more details after the same happens on May 6.
